Joe Valek is a Cardiff-born, Bristol-based interviewer, DJ, and occasional music producer.
Valek conducts interviews with underground, rising talent at gigs and events around Bristol. Dubbed locally as "the Bristol Nardwuar", he's known for his deep cut questions and unique research methods. Some of the most notable names he's interviewed include UK legends Elijah, Flirta D, and Manga Saint Hilare, world class DJs Just Jane, Neffa-T, and Zed Bias, and international superstars JAEL, Karun, and Camoufly. He has also done longer, documentary style videos at Bristol Anime Con, Love Saves the Day and Moon Festival.
Valek has also produced music and presented radio shows for over 10 years. He started young at Llandough Hospital’s ‘Rookwood Sound’ and later hosted two shows on Bristol’s 1020 Radio. He also released music under various aliases from 2014 until 2022 when he took a hiatus to hone new skills. Valek is also a versatile DJ, focusing on 140/dubstep in his sets but can turn his hand to a variety of dance music genres as needed. Fun fact: Joe was taught to DJ by Goldie Looking Chain’s ‘DJ Killer Tomato’.
