Dual Monitor

with Lupini

Lupini has slowly, quietly established themselves as a pivotal figure in the North West’s alternative music scene. Once amiably described as an ‘administrator of the Liverpool music scene’, and now recently introduced to a wider audience via the DJ Mag Best Radio Show weekly Tuesday NTS residency on Soup To Nuts (and a BBC Radio 1 show with Benji B + a long-standing residency at No Bounds Festival) Lupini is a DJ, broadcaster, promoter and all-round music enthusiast.

As well as founding both the femme-forward “esoteric techno night”, ATHE, and a deep listening sound project, HEAVY TEXTURE, Lupini was station manager at Melodic Distraction Radio for five years. With one foot in the club and the other in the home hifi, a Lupini set drifts easily from lilting ambient (under the HEAVY TEXTURE project), to mutant swung techno, breakbeat, electro and bass-heavy sounds (as ATHE) all the way through to dub-wise sludge, new wave and postpunk in daytime radio pursuits.

This eclecticism is reflected in the artists Lupini’’s played alongside, on the one hand playing alongside experimental icons like Terry Riley, Lucretia Dalt, Laila Sakini, Joanne Robertson, ML Buch and Clair Rousay, and just as deftly slipping into the club alongside Vladimir Ivokic, Josey Rebelle, Nkisi, Helena Hauff, Batu & Call Super. You never know what you’ll get, but you can be sure it’ll be a little bit sweet, a little bit sad and a little bit silly.

Enjoy a monthly dose of kinetic bass, skitter step breaks, and full frontal fractal energy from UK hybrid genre alchemists Dual Monitor.
